Abstract: Background: The major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide is hypertension (HTN). Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is an abnormal increase in left ventricular mass which is a marker for and contributes to coronary events, stroke, heart failure, peripheral arterial disease, and cardiovascular mortality in patients with hypertension. Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is a member of the (TNFRS) of cytokines and a soluble receptor for the (RANKL). We examined the relationship of polymorphism in the osteoprotegerin gene with the incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy in patients that are hypertensive. Patients and methods: Fifty hypertensive patients were included in the research; 25 with left ventricular hypertrophy (category A) and 25 without left ventricular hypertrophy (category B). All patients underwent a comprehensive history and medical examination. There was ECG and echocardiography performed. To show the existence or absence of LV hypertrophy, LV mass was computed. In order to identify osteoprotogrin gene polymorphism in PCRs, DNA was then derived from blood specimens and each DNA specimen was amplified. Results: The average age was 62.2±9.24 years for category A instances and 57.36 ± 6.42 years for category B instances, with statistically substantial differences among the two categories. In category A, there had been 60% men and 40% women, and 48% men and 52% women in category B, with no statistically substantial differences among the two categories. There have also been statistically relevant variations among the two categories with regard to duration of the disease, SBP, prominent a wave, forcible apex, fourth heart sound, Sokolowlyon index, but there were statistically high significant differences regarding LV mass index, E/A ratio, PWEDd, IVSDd and LV mass. The CC genotype has been found in 24% of the instances in category A and in 28 % of the instances in category B, the CG genotype has been found in 40% of the instances in category A and 48 % of the instances in category B, whereas the GG genotype has been present in 36% of the instances in category A and 24 % of the instances in category B with no statistically substantial variation among the two categories. Disease duration, age, smoking, prominent a wave, E/A ratio and grade of diastolic dysfunction were significant predictors of LVH. Conclusion: Polymorphism of the osteoprotegerin gene has been shown to be independent risk factors for the occurrence of LVH in patients with hypertension.

Abstract: Grapes are the second largest fruit crop in Egypt after citrus fruits, as it is estimated at 1533.11 thousand tons, and the volume of exports is estimated at 173.67 thousand tons as an average for the period (2008-2018). The best export months for Egyptian grapes are in May, June and July of each year. Especially to European countries, where Egypt has export seasons and does not have quantitative quotas (exemption from customs duties within the export seasons) in accordance with the Egyptian-European Partnership Agreement, and the research aims to increase the amount of Egypt's exports of grapes to those markets where the volume of its production and the volume of its imports of grapes decrease according to The world level during the month (May-June and July) of each year, due to the delay in the emergence of Spanish grape production in that period, which is the biggest competitor for Egyptian grapes in those markets, which increases the competitive advantage of this crop in the same period.

Abstract: The LIRADS (Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System) is an initiative sponsored by the American college of radiology which uses a standardized language & aims to categorize liver outcomes for cirrhosis patients or other risk factors for the development of HCC, allowing the radiology community to adopt standardized terminology, minimize uncertainty and errors in imaging interpretation, strengthen coordination with prescribing doctors, and promote quality assurance and research. The current version of LIRADS discusses the broad range of cirrhotic liver lesions and pseudolesions, provides a controlled imaging vocabulary lexicon, contains an ongoing illustrative atlas, provides general guidance on optimal CT and MRI procedures, review reporting, and diagnostic workup and management, and incorporates some content of non-HCC malignancies.

Abstract: Cisplatin and carboplatin, the platinum compounds, are widely utilized towards a number of malignancies. Treatment with these compounds, despite their efficacy, frequently contributes to severe side impacts, like nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity and ototoxicity. Ototoxicity caused by platinum is clinically expressed as bilateral, progressive and permanent sensory neural hearing loss, resulting in devastating effects on cancer survivors' quality of life. Tinnitus may also be shown in sufferers. Age, cumulative dosage, renal dysfunction, concomitant ototoxic drugs, and head (cochlear) radiotherapy are thought to play a function in its severity. Research has lately made progress in deciding if such genetic polymorphisms predispose patients to ototoxicity caused by platinum. This study aimed to assess the frequency of ototoxicity and associated risk factors in survivors of childhood cancer receiving platinum-based chemotherapy and to detect the relation between GSTP1 c.313A>G (rs1695) poleomorphism and ototoxicity.

Abstract: A novel (E)-3-(2-P-Tolyldiazenyl)-1-nitrosonaphthalen-2-ol (NAD) was synthesized and characterized via Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), UV/Vis, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopic techniques. Weight loss analysis showed that this molecule possesses excellent corrosion inhibitive potentials. Variations of inhibition efficiency with concentration and temperature were observed and the results obtained showed that inhibition efficiency increases with increase in concentration while it reduces with an increase in temperature. The efficiency of this molecule was validated with theoretical models using the density functional theory (DFT) method with the hybrid functional, Becke Three Lee Yang Parr (B3LYP) correlation with 6-31G* basis set. It was observed that the molecule has very good corrosion inhibitive potentials.

Abstract: Objectives: The aim was to prepare and evaluate ophthalmic hydrogels containing atorvastatin calcium/hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin complex (ATSCa/HP-β-CyD). ATS used for atherosclerosis, was proved to have therapeutic effects on intraocular inflammation and uveoretinitis butits poor water solubility hindered its ocular application. Methods: First, complexes were prepared and characterized by different techniques. Different polymers (sodium alginate, carbopol934, and methylcellulose) were selected to formulate hydrogels containing either free or complexed drug. Physical and in-vitro release characteristics were studied. Key findings: The complexes showed improved dissolution rates compared to untreated drug; highest dissolution rate was observed in co-solvent and common solvent methods. Hydrogels were, clear with acceptable pH and drug content except sodium alginate was slight turbid. The results showed that there was increase in the drug percent released from carbopol934 or methylcellulose loaded with the complexed drug compared to the corresponding ones with free drug. On the other hand, percentages released from sodium alginate gels were decreased by complexation. Conclusions: Ophthalmic carbopol934 gels containing ATS Ca/HP-β-CyD complex are considered promising delivery systems with the highest in-vitro drug release profile.
