Abstract: An AC servomotor which is mostly a two-phase induction motor with two stator field coils placed 90 electrical degrees apart used for controlling position, speed and acceleration in manufacturing industries. In this paper, a two-phase induction motor has been designed with a fuzzy logic and observer based controllers to improve the performance of the system. Comparison of the AC servomotor with the proposed controllers for tracking a step and a square desired position signal input has been done using Matlab/Simulink toolbox and a promising result obtained.

Karo Kari – a premeditated killing in Pakistan

Abstract: Honor killings in Sindh are known as ‘Karo Kari’ which in literal sense means ‘black man and black woman’ who deserves exclusion from the community. In other words, it is a homicide of a family member committed by close relatives such as brother, father, husband or mother of the victim for bringing dishonor upon family or community. Examples of the acts that trigger homicide may include: wanting to marry of their choice, wishing to seek employment, wanting to live according to free will, dressing ‘inappropriately’ or in general refusing to give in to the normative standards of behavior set by the local tribe or community. This paper seeks to analyze the nature of honor killing, the use of honor killing as a political strategy and cultural defense, further it will also evaluate the legal protection offered to the victims. Part of this paper includes a field research with ex-chairperson of All Pakistan Women Association, UK. Considering there are many Pakistani NGOs with their head office branches in London. Gender sensitive topics are considered a ‘taboo’ in Pakistan and its uncontrollable rise has deprived Pakistan of a positive global status. This study covers my area of interest and my voice for the people who are committed to achieve equality for women and an attempt to contribute to the mind-set that wishes to make Pakistan a secure place for its citizens regardless of gender, religion or any discrimination.

Abstract: Aim of the research is to understand Gender Based violence and its existence in contemporary democratic Pakistan. Due to the limited scope of this paper, my analysis will be restricted to lack of adequate protection or support given to the women victims. My research carefully considers the differences in the interpretation of secular and Islamic laws, this helped to evaluate the manipulation by the politicians, clergymen and tribal leaders who continue to justify violence against women with erroneous Sharia interpretations or cover it up as a cultural practice. The pervasiveness of Gender based Violence is a threat to Pakistan’s sustainable development and growth. This paper has established that despite being bound by the international treaties to eliminate discriminatory laws from the national legislations, Pakistan’s weak political and judicial framework has failed to grant full protection and status of equality to women. Although, some initiatives have been taken to condemn violence on women but they too have not been implemented seriously.

Abstract: Some pattern-forming mechanisms have an intrinsic tendency to form stripes. This involves competition between emerging patterns which remains intuitively not obvious to us although we can establish it by computation and, in part, by analysis we describe here. Our conclusions are applicable to a wide range of pattern-forming mechanisms within the general category of kinetic mechanisms. These include reaction diffusion models, first proposed by Turing (1952) and to date the most extensively developed kind of kinetic mechanism. The category also includes mechanochemical theories (Oster et al., 1983) as well as mechanisms involving complex cell-cell interactions, for example between groups of incipient synapses in the assembly of the nervous system. These last are involved in the formation of ocular dominance patterns in the primary visual cortex (also known as the striate cortex, area 17 or V1) of higher vertebrates (Fig. 1B). In an earlier publication (Lyons and Harrison, 1991) we showed that the observed patterns are similar to those which can be modeled using reaction-diffusion systems. The present analysis and discussion is applicable to these disparate mechanisms.

Abstract: India is home to 472 million children in the age group of 0- 18 years, constituting almost 39 per cent of the nation’s population. India’s future vests with adults of today and citizen of tomorrow but unfortunately juvenile delinquency in India increasing day by day and states become unable to control juvenile delinquency. Society also plays an important role to curb juvenile delinquency with the state. That is the societies only that create an adverse environment due to that child indulge in anti-behavioural activities. There are many factors responsible for juvenile delinquency. This study aims to find out the causes of juvenile delinquency. This study based on secondary data.

Abstract: The genus Carex is the largest in family Cyperaceae, containing over 2000 species. Members is found in different habitat types, ranging from aridity, high altitude, intense salinity, wet places, swamps, marshes and vertical slopes. Variation within the genus is extremely high, which is based on qualitative and quantitative morphological features and genetic makeup. A comprehensive study was conducted to collect plants of genera Carex of family Cyperaceae, throughout mountainous region (Murree, Bansra Galli, Jhinka Galli and Nathia Galli districts) in the Punjab. Macro- and micro-morphological study was conducted to record inflorescence characteristics of the genus. Macro- and micro-morphological characteristics like size and type of inflorescence, number, shape and size of bract, size, shape and color of glumes and seed characteristics were recorded. Floral morphological characteristics are of high taxonomic significance, which was an effective tool to classify different species. Habitat ecology and distributional pattern like geographical parameters have important contribute in taxonomy of this genus.
